Welcome and NEWS Yarmouth Links Golf Course

Tucked into the southwest corner of the Province, this charming links-style layout offers a panoramic view of the local lighthouse and ocean. At first glance, the openness of the course leads one to believe that low scores are the norm. However, the rolling fairways, small lightning fast greens and unpredictable ocean breezes all combine to provide a true challenge for any golfer.

This club was established in the early 1800's and operated as a nine hole course until the mid 1990's when the new nine was opened for play in 1995. Yarmouth is one of the Province's oldest courses. While playing Yarmouth course you will be treated to great views of the Atlantic Ocean. The course is fairly wide open but the small greens will make up for this as accurate approach shots will be required.

Successful Closing Scramble.

Under cloudy skies over one hundred and twenty five people attended our closing scramble on Sunday, October 18.  The day began at 10 o'clock with an 18 hole scramble, cool temperatures but no rain.  After the scramble prizes were presented to the teams, then the Presentation of Trophies and Awards to all of our Champions for 2009,  (Pictures are under Golf Club Champions). This was followed by a chinese auction.  Next on the program was our supper, consisting of a pig roast (thanks to Gary Muise), baked potatoes, two vegies, cold slaw, apple sauce, rolls and our famous pot luck desserts.

The drawing for the winning ticket took place with Martin Pink winning the 2009 Membership,  Shirley Throp won second prize , a green fee package and third prize went to Patricia Crowell, Driving range pass.  We closed the day with an auction and lots of laughter and commraderie.

Very pleased to announce that the day brought in $4,010.00 to go toward our new LF machine fund raising account.

Congratulations to Ian MacDonald.

A very special presentation was made to Ian, he  has played in every Club Championship Tournament for the last fifty years.  He was presented with a plaque to commemorate the occasion during a standing ovation for his accomplishment.

Special wishes, a birthday cake and a huge chorus singing Happy Birthday were presented to Florence Muise, celebrating her special day !!

Thank you all for your support for this day, it has been fun.  If I missed anyone please accept my apologies and thanks to you as well.  Hope you have a great winter and hope to see you at the March AGM.          Bev G.

Safest Drive, sponsor Subaru, won by Marilyn Murray.

All participants received either a Nancy Lopez pink shopping bag or a sleeve of balls.
The 'Pickin" foods were excellent and were enjoyed by everyone as they 'blew' into the club.   It was a wonderful way to open our 2009 ladies' golfing season.
